Mastering Submenus in AXIOcms: A Guide to Smarter Navigation

In AXIOcms, our goal is to make content management as powerful as it is easy. That’s why we’ve built a flexible, user-friendly submenu system that lets you shape your site’s structure exactly how you want it.

Whether you’re managing a sleek company website or a content-heavy portal, here's everything you need to know about working with submenus in AXIOcms.

What Are Submenus?

Submenus are the nested navigation items that appear under your main menu categories. Think of them as branches growing out of a trunk—each branch leads users deeper into your content without overwhelming them with choices right from the homepage.

Why use submenus in AXIOcms?

1. Cleaner Navigation:Instead of crowding your top-level menu with dozens of links, submenus help you organize pages into logical groups.

2. Better UX (User Experience):With submenus, visitors can find what they need faster. It reduces confusion and keeps them engaged longer.

3. More Control:In AXIOcms, you can build deep menu hierarchies with ease, allowing you to tailor navigation to fit your content structure.

How to Create a Submenu in AXIOcms

You can create submenus to use on posts and pages, giving you even more flexibility with how you present content.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Access the Submenu Manager

Click on Submenus in the main menu on the left of your dashboard. Then click on Create and enter the title of your new submenu.

2. Add Submenu Items

Click Add Link to create a submenu item. You’ll be able to choose from several link types:

  • Internal Link – Link to an existing post or page on your site.
  • Custom URL – Add a custom web address, like an external site or partner link.
  • Download – Link to a downloadable file such as a PDF or image.

Assign a Label to each link. This label is what users will see in the submenu.

3. Save and Use Your Submenu

Once you’ve added all the necessary links, hit Save. Your submenu is now ready to be assigned to any post or page—just select it from the available options when editing your content.

Ready to Try It?

Submenus are one of the easiest ways to improve your site's usability—and with AXIOcms, building and managing them is a breeze.
